The Opportunity:
We're working with a well-established, privately owned cleaning and facilities business based in Liverpool. They've built a strong reputation over the years and have a really loyal, long-standing client base.
The business has grown to a team of 24+ and has some clear plans for the next 3-5 years. They're now at a point where they want to tighten things up operationally and build something that can scale properly as they continue to grow.
This role goes beyond maintaining day-to-day operations; it's about taking a proactive approach, anticipating needs around staffing, shift planning and resource allocation rather than simply reacting as issues arise.
They're looking for an Operations Manager who wants to get properly stuck in, take ownership of the day-to-day and work closely with the owner to shape how the business moves forward. It's a chance to have a real say in how things are done, bring new ideas to the table, and help build a more forward-thinking operation.
It would really suit someone a bit entrepreneurial in their mindset, someone who naturally thinks ahead, plans for what's coming next, and puts things in place before problems arise. There's a lot of scope here to make improvements and genuinely make your mark.
The Role:
This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership role at the heart of a busy, service-led operation.
You'll be responsible for ensuring everything runs smoothly day-to-day - from people, rotas, and client delivery - while also identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes, and commercial performance.
Equally important, you'll help put the structure in place to support larger contracts, future growth, and a more scalable way of working.
The role is primarily office-based, with regular site visits and operational support in the field to maintain standards, support teams, and stay close to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of day-to-day operations across a growing client portfolio
- Lead, support, and develop a team of 24+ staff
- Manage rotas, scheduling, holiday cover, and operational planning
- Handle day-to-day operational challenges including sickness, last-minute changes, and service gaps
- Carry out regular site visits to maintain quality, consistency, and team support
- Oversee stock control across multiple sites
- Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
- Identify and implement improvements across systems, processes, efficiency, and commercial performance
- Support the onboarding of new and larger client contracts
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and team development
- Work closely with the business owner to support operational scalability and future growth plans
You'll likely bring:
- Proven experience managing teams in a fast-paced, service-led environment
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Confidence working both in the office and out on-site
- Strong communication skills with both staff and clients
- Commercial awareness and the ability to spot opportunities for improvement and growth
- Confidence using systems and managing operational data
